Middle School Blast Nov 10, 2023
Note from Bill…
A heartfelt thanks for attending our Parent Teacher conferences yesterday and today. We all know and realize the importance of timely feedback that can be used in a prescriptive manner for improvement. It is my hope that you received this type of feedback from your child’s teachers. Even though our conferences are only 10 minutes in length, our teachers work hard to highlight salient information with parents, all in the hopes that we have a shared and vested interest in the most important person: our children. Even if some of your conferences brought up no major concerns or issues, please treat this feedback as important and timely, being sure to share this with your child. As always, if there were larger concerns or issues that did surface during your conferences, please work with your child’s teacher to find a time to follow-up for a more in-depth conversation within the next week or so.
I am so excited to share with you an article in the Fall Edition of Cincy Magazine about our Middle School’s Real Talk Series, “Embracing Differences.” The article details the wonderful aspects of this signature program that serve to recognize and support the wonderful diversity that exists in our community. Kristin Suer and Jacky Kalubi, the founders of this program, have created an empowering experience that serves to educate our community about the myriad of differences that define Seven Hills’ Middle School. In the article, Mrs. Suer notes that “I wanted a chance for our students to open their eyes a little bit … I wanted them to see all the differences we have in the world and just to have an appreciation and sometimes even a wake-up call to how other people experience this world.” Please take a moment to read this article; I am confident you will be pleased with what the Real Talk series adds to our Middle School program

Eighth Grade “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Field Trip
On Tuesday, Nov. 21, our eighth graders are in for a real treat! We’ll be heading to The Otto M. Budig Theater in downtown Cincinnati to witness a performance of William Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” presented by The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. This main stage production is a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience the magic of professional theater before delving into the play in detail this spring. We have secured tickets for this field trip, and we sincerely hope that every eighth grader will be able to join us. Please notify the Middle School office if your family anticipates an absence on this day. We anticipate leaving campus at 9 a.m. and will return in time for a late lunch at 1 p.m. The afternoon will offer a chance for reflection and our traditional Thanksgiving assembly.
Parking Lot Reminder: Numbered Spaces Reserved for Students
Parking spaces with numbers are assigned spaces for students. Please do not park in any numbered space. If you are a visiting parent, please park in the short-term parking spots in Lot A (the main lot adjacent to the Upper School and Lotspeich) or the spaces without numbers near the Resale Shop. Additionally, spots 201-208 across from the Red Barn are unassigned and available for visitors.
Save the Date — Books for Lunch 2024!
The 2024 Books for Lunch committee, chaired by Seven Hills parents Lisa Briquet and Lalitha Chunduri, is honored to present this year’s guest author, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Andrew Sean Greer! Please join us in the Madison Ballroom at The Summit Hotel on Feb. 2 for lunch, community, and an engaging address from Greer. Please visit 7hills.org/BFL to purchase tickets and learn more about the event, Greer, and his work.
