Middle School Blast Nov 3, 2023
Note from Bill…
I can’t believe that it is already November and am in disbelief that Kroger is already selling winter holiday items. With Halloween now in the rear-view mirror, we turn our sights to this month and note the many events on the horizon that are vital to “life in the Middle.”
Hopefully, you have received the first quarter comments and grades from all of your child’s teachers. I urge you to carefully review this information, as it will be able to inform you of your child’s current progress at this point in the year.
Parent Teacher Conferences are on Nov. 9 and 10. You should have already received information on how to sign-up for conference times. Our Parent Teacher Conferences are opportunities for you to meet with your child’s teachers to understand how they are doing and to give you the opportunity to ask specific questions related to your child’s efforts. Please note that you don’t have to meet with each of your child’s teachers during this conference time. NOTE: The sign-up window for these conferences closes on Nov. 6!
Thanksgiving Break starts at the end of the day on Nov. 21 and we return to school on Nov. 27.
As always, please feel free to reach out to us should you have any questions.
The weekend before Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 17 and 18, is when our fall play opens. There will be a Pizza and Play gathering at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, for students who would like to see the play with friends. Please be on the lookout for more information about the play and events in upcoming Blasts.

Announcements
Eighth Grade Upper School Preview Days
On Nov. 7 and 8, our eighth graders will spend the day visiting the Upper School to get a sense of what life is like as Upper School students at Seven Hills. Students will have the chance to visit classes and hear from teachers and students about all that our Upper School has to offer. Please note that half of the grade will visit on Nov. 7 and the other half will visit on Nov. 8.
Eighth Grade Movie Information
The eighth grade team is planning on showing the film “The Public” to the eighth grade class during an upcoming class assembly on either Nov. 7 or 8. As this film is rated PG-13, it is our policy to alert parents of this viewing and to have parent permission that will allow their child to watch this film. Information about “The Public” can be found on its IMDB page. If you do not want your child to watch this movie (or have questions), please contact Judith Niedlein-Dial. Thank you, the eighth grade team.
Parking Lot Reminder: Numbered Spaces Reserved for Students
Parking spaces with numbers are assigned spaces for students. Please do not park in any numbered space. If you are a visiting parent, please park in the short-term parking spots in Lot A (the main lot adjacent to the Upper School and Lotspeich) or the spaces without numbers near the Resale Shop. Additionally, spots 201-208 across from the Red Barn are unassigned and available for visitors.
Encore Club
A friendly reminder that Encore Club closes at 6 p.m. sharp. Please make sure to pick up your children on time. This is a great service for families who work later, but we want to make sure that we adhere to pick-up time. Thank you!

The court will be open to parents starting at 7:45 p.m. and the pickup game(s) will begin at 8 p.m. Day-of sign-up via SignUpGenius is required.
Spirit Shop Volunteers
We are seeking volunteers to help in the Seven Hills Spirit Shop. All are welcome to join the fun and spread Stinger pride! Make lifelong friends in the Spirit Shop. If interested, please contact Lindsay Cassady.
Parent Walking Club
We are a group of parents who get together bi-weekly on Wednesdays after morning drop off to talk and walk the lower soccer field. All divisions are welcome, and no RSVP is required. This group provides you a great opportunity to connect with other community members all while getting your steps in! Please park in the lower field parking area; campus guest passes will be passed out to ensure visibility, for security purposes. When inclement weather occurs, we gather at Element Eatery to chat. Our next meet up is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Subsequent dates are Nov. 29, Dec. 13, and Jan. 10, 2024. I look forward to chatting with you soon.
