Lotspeich Blast Mar 8, 2024
Dear Parents,
Last week we took the opportunity to celebrate Leap Day! Thanks to the creativity of our teachers and the leadership of our specialist teachers, our students participated in a variety of activities — from playing board games that came out 50 years ago (when Seven Hills began) to folding origami frogs to learning a dance to the song, “Jump!” Please take a moment to watch the video put together by Mrs. Necessary.
This afternoon, our third through fifth grade students will participate in their annual instrumental concert at 1:45 p.m. in Founders Hall. Under the direction of our music teacher Mrs. Wilson, the students will perform “Handbells, Recorders, and Ukes. Oh My!” We hope to see you there to celebrate the musical talents of our students.
Enjoy your weekend!
Susan

LGBTQIA+ Parent Group and Spring Social
Last year, we inaugurated a Parent Community space for LGBTQIA+ families, making strides toward our inclusive school commitment. As we embark on a new year, we aim to reunite existing families and extend a warm welcome to new families joining our community. If you’re interested in becoming a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, please express your interest with this LGBTQIA+ PC Group interest form.
Additionally, we cordially invite all Seven Hills LGBTQIA+ families to our Spring Social on March 9, from 12-2 p.m. in The Schiff Center theater classroom. Kindly RSVP using the above interest form and bring your family to partake in the festivities.
Book Sale for Lower School Visiting Author
We are excited to announce that The Bookshelf bookstore is hosting a book sale featuring the works of this year’s visiting author, Nancy Churnin. Nancy will be visiting our campuses on April 8 and 9, and her books will be available for purchase at a discount. The Bookshelf will deliver any books ordered directly to the schools, and Nancy will personalize and autograph them when she visits.
Nancy Churnin is a talented author known for her captivating children’s books. With a knack for storytelling, she effortlessly weaves together engaging narratives that inspire young readers. Through her work she celebrates diverse voices and important historical figures, leaving a lasting impact on readers of all ages.
The book sale starts immediately and will run through Friday, March 15. Order Nancy Churnin books here. Thank you for your continued support, Lotspeich librarian Lori Suffield and Doherty librarian Jo Schnirring

Seeking Host Families for International Students
The Seven Hills Upper School is pleased to be welcoming new students from China for the 2024-25 school year. We are seeking families within the Seven Hills community to host these students. If you would like to learn more about the responsibilities and rewards of welcoming an international student into your home, please contact Nancy Clark. Interested families will be connected with an approved agency that will share program details and monthly stipend information.
Parent Community News
We’ve added two more events to our spring “save the date.” Our Lotspeich Parent Community will be co-hosting two events with our friends from the Doherty Campus Parent Community. Both are a great chance to catch up and meet new people from each of our Seven Hills campuses!
The first joint event is the morning of Friday, April 12 and will be our final Parent Community meeting of the year. It will be held at the BonBonerie on Madison Road after morning drop off. Coffee and breakfast treats will be served.
The second joint event is our Spring Parent Social, on the evening of Saturday, April 20, location to-be-determined. This is an adults-only event.
In the coming weeks, please be on the lookout for more details and RSVP information and as always, if you’re interested in volunteering, please reach out to Alisa Pitocco.
