Doherty Blast Apr 19, 2024
Dear Doherty Families,
We have enjoyed a much better week this week with the weather. The students have appreciated the sunshine and warmer temperatures. A reminder that although the weather has changed and the shorts are becoming everyday attire, students in first to fifth grade still need to be dressed in appropriate uniform clothing. They have been pushing the limits lately! Please refer to the description of acceptable uniform clothing.
Our student Hive groups have been actively engaged in various community service projects. They are finishing up their year-long projects, which include building birdhouses, baking delicious dog treats for the shelter, crafting critter houses, adopting an elephant, and organizing a drive for Children’s Hospital. These projects not only instill a sense of responsibility and teamwork but also contribute positively to the community around us.
Our Pink Hive is organizing a drive for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. They have been busy making activity books and signs for their donation collection. If you are interested in donating, they will be collecting gently used stuffed animals, games/activities, and books for children of all ages. Items can be dropped off in the box in Haile’s foyer. Watch for information from our other Hives!
In addition to their community service endeavors, our students had the opportunity to visit the Aronoff Center. Kindergarten and Unit I students enjoyed “Pete The Cat,” while Unit II and III saw “The Pa’akai We Bring.” These experiences allowed our students to immerse themselves in the arts, fostering creativity, imagination, and cultural appreciation.
We have several upcoming events to be sure you have on your calendars:
- April 23 — Unit I Field Trip to Taft Center
- April 24 — Kindergarten to Unit III visit Hillsdale Campus
- April 26 — Arts Alive (see schedule here)
- April 30 — Drama Night for K to Unit II (see more info here)

ATB for Arts Alive
We are here for your childcare needs prior to Arts Alive events. Please register in your parent portal if you need care before your child’s scheduled performance.
