Doherty Blast Apr 12, 2024
Dear Doherty Parents,
What an eventful week! The highlight was the wonderful experience our students had during the recent solar eclipse observation. The students had the opportunity to witness this rare celestial event firsthand. Mrs. Taylor-Fabe did a fantastic job preparing and instructing students to view the eclipse safely. There were also various eclipse related activities, such as creating eclipse beads, constructing models demonstrating the eclipse phases, and crafting moments to commemorate the event. Our students were fully immersed in a rich learning experience, noting all the changes during the event. We appreciate your patience with the dismissal changes; they helped us navigate it easily.
Arts Alive is quickly approaching! The event will be on April 26, beginning right after school on the Hillsdale Campus. Our students will go to the Hillsdale Campus for rehearsals that Friday. Students in Unit II will be going mid-day and returning to campus for their regular pick-up. They will be brought to the event by parents later that evening. Students in Units I and III will go over at the end of the day and stay on the Hillsdale Campus as they will perform right after school. If you have a child in Unit I and/or III who will not participate in the event, they will be on the Doherty Campus for dismissal. Mr. Newlie has sent home more information with specific timing and a form that must be filled out for each student. This is particularly important for Units I and III students, so we have them here for dismissal if they will not attend the event.
Our Lower School Spirit Night and recognition of our spring athletes has been rescheduled this evening. Join us for dinner (four food trucks will be on campus) on Wednesday, April 17 and stay to watch a game. Watch our softball, boys tennis, baseball, and girls lacrosse teams. The events will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Welcome back to our fourth and fifth graders who completed their overnight trip to Glen Helen. Everyone had a great time with lots of fun, laughs and learning. Thank you to Mr. Schmidt and Mrs. Parks-Goad for allowing the students this opportunity.
Have a great weekend.
Tracy

PC Joint Social April 20 — Canceled
The Doherty/Lotspeich PCS have decided to cancel the joint parent social scheduled for April 20. We felt there was an over-saturation of events in April and May.
