Head of School Apr 12, 2024
Beyond the usual welter of springtime activity (athletic contests, rehearsals for “Mamma Mia” and Arts Alive, a lively and well attended Prom, a series of class trips), this week has also brought some wonderful events involving our alumnae/i.
Each year at this time, we host reunions for the graduates of CPS (Doherty), Hillsdale, and Seven Hills with a series of school sponsored events and class parties for the five year reunion classes. This year, we have the additional pleasure of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the merger between CPS and the Hillsdale-Lotspeich School which engendered the modern era of The Seven Hills School.
Over the last 50 years, this school has evolved considerably. We are larger, much more diverse, and offer a rich, exploratory curriculum and approaches to teaching and learning designed to foster the intellectual and interpersonal skills our graduates will need to thrive not only in college but in a rapidly changing global community.
This weekend, as we celebrate the continuing evolution of the school, we also celebrate those abiding values which, for decades now, have made Seven Hills the very special community it is.
As much as the school has grown and changed over the years, at its core, Seven Hills still provides a life changing experience for our students, an experience shaped by:
- a talented and committed faculty and staff who care deeply for the students they guide and support.
- a lively, highly engaging, and student centered curriculum.
- a comprehensive educational program, rich offerings in arts, athletics, experiential learning, and community service, to help our students cultivate all aspects of themselves.
- a safe and emotionally healthy culture for young people to learn and grow.
- a strong, inclusive community, unified by our shared values.
- a deep commitment to preparing young people for lives of meaning and purpose.
That is what this school still is and what, I sincerely hope, it will always be. Thank you, all, for the role you have played in sustaining the growth of this precious institution.
