Doherty Blast Apr 5, 2024
Dear Doherty Families,
I hope you are well-rested and rejuvenated after a wonderful break with your family. As we gear up for our final trimester of the year, we look forward to several upcoming events.
One of the highlights of the upcoming week is our Unit III overnight trip to Glen Helen. This excursion is not just an opportunity for our students to have fun and make memories; it’s also a crucial part of their educational journey. Through this trip, students will have the chance to engage in hands-on learning experiences outside of the traditional classroom setting. They will learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and independence, all while exploring new environments and building lasting friendships. This trip is always a highly anticipated experience for our fourth and fifth graders.
In addition to the overnight trip, we will host an author visit from the esteemed Nancy Churnin on Monday, April 8. Nancy is a talented writer known for her captivating children’s books. Her visit will give our students a unique opportunity to learn from a published author firsthand.
On Friday, April 12, all Seven Hills families are welcome to celebrate our spring athletes while having fun! Our kindergarten through sixth grade spring athletes will be recognized at 6:30 p.m. on the lower field on the Hillsdale Campus. Food will be available for purchase from four delicious food trucks: Big Dogs Pizza, Maya Indian Food, Kona Ice (at the Pavilion), and Quite Frankly (at the baseball field).
The students have been learning about the upcoming eclipse in science class and eagerly await the event. However, along with the excitement comes a practical consideration in the dismissal of students. If you still need to return the permission slip, please do so ASAP. Additionally, it is essential to be mindful of potential traffic congestion and plan accordingly. Please adhere to the changed pick-up times, so we can release students safely. Just a reminder, families are asked not to go to the upper playground to view the eclipse. You are welcome to view the event from the PK playground.
Have a great weekend.
Tracy

Be Great With Us! (Bedding Drive)
As part of the Upper School’s “Give, Grow, and Be Great” service-learning May Term, Upper students will work with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build beds for children without one. The need for beds in the Greater Cincinnati area is startlingly high, and while building the beds is an enormous help, beds without pillows, mattress pads, sheets, and blankets don’t solve the problem. Please consider donating new bedding to help our efforts make a difference. You can purchase items directly from this Amazon wishlist or send donations to the Upper Office. Please make checks payable to The Seven Hills School with “bedding drive” in the memo line. Donations will be accepted from now until the end of May, but why wait? Be great today! Questions? Contact Karen Glum.
