Photos of the Week

  • As part of their study of dinosaurs, the pre-kindergarten for 2-year-old students ran an experiment to see how many of their shoes and boots they needed to fill a dinosaur’s footprint. It took 48.
  • Pre-kindergartners made stoplights during their unit on transportation in Kayla Cappannelli’s class.
  • Students traveled to the Greenacres site in Milford and learned all about how to identify maple trees and how maple syrup is made.
  • The fourth graders are hard at work preparing for the concert on March 13, when they will sing and play ukulele, bucket drums, and other percussion instruments.
  • Kindergartners learned about circuits in Lauren Fisher’s science class and built circuits to light a light bulb and run a motor.

LEAD Together with David Yeager Recap — Webinar Available until March 10

If you’ve ever wondered how to push your child toward their potential without it feeling like pressure, or how to give feedback that actually lands, check out this webinar with David Yeager. Yeager is one of the country’s leading researchers on adolescent motivation. His work centers on a powerful idea: young people thrive when the adults in their lives hold high expectations and communicate genuine belief in their ability to meet them. There’s real science behind what makes it work … and real practices you can bring home.

Watch the webinar. It is available until March 10.

Announcements

Lower School Author Visit

You’re invited to order discounted, signed books from our two upcoming visiting authors — and they’ll be delivered right to your child’s classroom before the author’s visit!

  • Grades K–5 — Kelly Starling Lyons on April 20. Order Kelly Starling Lyons books.
  • Pre-Kindergarten — Amanda Driscoll on April 15. Order Amanda Driscoll books.

How it works: The Bookshelf bookstore is hosting the sale and offering books at a discount. Once you place your order, books will be delivered directly to your child’s classroom. When each author visits, they will sign and personalize your child’s book. Thank you for your continued support! Questions? Reach out to Mrs. Schnirring and Mrs. Suffield.

VIP Day — April 17

One of our Lotspeich traditions is right around the corner — VIP Day! We will welcome many very important people to campus to see our students in action. Families, please see and share our invitation to special visitors, whom you invite on behalf of your children. Only RSVP once per family. Also, note that we will have an early dismissal for all students pre-kindergarten through fifth grade at 11:30 a.m. to allow visitors to continue their day with the children. We look forward to welcoming our visitors on April 17 to campus!

Grade 5 Closing Ceremony Swim Party

It’s hard to believe that we are at this time of year, but we need to start thinking about the end of the school year. We are starting to think about our Lower School farewell and how we will celebrate them. We need volunteers for the Fifth Grade Swim Party on Thursday, May 28 at the Cincinnati Sports Club, after the closing ceremonies. Please email Natasha Bishop if you can make it. We need four more volunteers. The time commitment would be 12:15-3:30 p.m.

Field House Parking Lot — Temporary Traffic Flow Changes

During Spring Break, work will begin to prep the future Lower School site for construction to begin in April. Beginning March 14, you will only be able to enter and exit the Field House lot from Bufler Lane. The exit onto Ellmarie Drive will be closed through summer 2026.
