Free Practice PSAT Exam for 10th & 11th Grade — Saturday, Oct. 3
Seven Hills has partnered with several test prep organizations to offer free practice ACT, SAT, and PSAT opportunities for our students. View the 2026-27 Practice Test Opportunities for Seven Hills Students document or check out your student’s College Counseling course in Canvas for more information. With the approaching October PSAT for 10th and 11th grade students, there is a digital practice opportunity on Saturday, Oct. 3. For ninth grade students interested in trying a practice PSAT, another digital practice exam will be offered on Feb. 20.
Choral Concert — Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m.
The fall choral concert for Middle and Upper School is Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome! Performers should report to the chorus room at 6:30 p.m. dressed for the performance. Middle School students should wear black on the bottom and white on top, with boys in a tie (any color). Upper students should wear their concert attire. Hope to see you there!
Upcoming LEAD Together Event: “Neuromyths: False Ideas About the Brain and Learning” — Tuesday, Oct. 13
Our next LEAD Together event takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 13, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Young Family Library. Come hear from Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa, Ph.D., a leading voice in mind, brain, and education, about “Neuromyths: False Ideas About the Brain and Learning.” Tracey will be working with our teachers throughout the school day, and this evening event is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn from her as well. Parents and caregivers of children of all ages — from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 — are welcome. Sign up for the event to let us know you’re coming. Need childcare? No problem! Sign up by Oct. 6 to secure childcare.
A New College Funding Resource for Seven Hills Families — First Workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 13
Families recently received an email from the Upper School college counseling department about a new resource to help families learn about saving, planning, and paying for college. We have partnered with Paul Martin, founder of College Money Method, to give families access to expert guidance on college pricing, financial aid, merit scholarships, saving, borrowing, and planning. College Money Method gives families two ways to learn: a series of live online workshops and a dedicated Seven Hills School Resource Center.
The first workshop, “Applying for Financial Aid and Scholarships in Senior Year” is Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. The College Money Method is linked in the Veracross Parent Portal (password: shscmm). Questions? Please reach out to Co-Directors of College Counseling Alex Catalan or Julie DiRoma.
Academic Check-in Before Fall Break
Prior to fall break next week, it’s a great idea to check in with teachers and Canvas to generate a plan for making up any late or missing work. We will have office hours on Wednesday, and teachers are also available before and after school and during common free bells. The mid-point for the first semester is Oct. 16, and interim grades will be released on Oct. 23, followed by parent teacher conferences on Oct. 26-27.
Parent Association News
Parent and Faculty Social — Sunday, Oct. 4, from 4-7 p.m.
Join us at MadTree Brewery in Oakley for the Parent and Faculty Social. Attending benefits your student through swarm points! Go for the points, stay for the conversation. Learn more and RSVP on ParentSquare.
Senior Corner: Class of 2027
Resume Workshop — Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9:30-11 a.m. (Sign-up Required)
This workshop is designed to help seniors build or refine their resume. Parent experts will be providing 1:1 feedback in one-hour personal sessions. Limited spaces are available — interested students should sign up through Google Forms. Food will be provided.
Questions? Please reach out to Leesa Pruett Ceron.
Friendsgiving — Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
This is a community-focused potluck dinner for the Class of 2027 and their families. It is an opportunity for us to come together in the spirit of gratitude to share a meal together and be in this moment. We are asking each family to bring a dish that is meaningful to them. It does not need to be homemade or Thanksgiving-y. Just something that says something about you.
View the event invitation for more information and to RSVP and sign up for your dish.
Announcements
Experiential Learning — Student Opportunities
Each week in Upper’s all-school assembly, Director of Experiential Learning Karen Glum shares new opportunities that have become available to students. Each week, a list of these opportunities will be shared in the Parent Blast as well, including links to additional information when possible and appropriate.
The following new opportunities were shared with students this week and are posted on the experiential learning bulletin board:
- Meet the Docs: During lunch and community time on Wednesday, Oct. 7, doctors from UC Health will be in the library to give brief presentations about their specialties and then engage with interested students. Special thanks to Seven Hills parent, Dr. Amit Jain, for organizing this event.
- Women in IT Conference: High school women from across Greater Cincinnati are invited to explore careers in IT, gain real-world insights, and build connections with fellow students and IT professionals. The event takes place on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. Space is limited, and registration closes Oct 9. Interested students should contact Marcus Twyford.
