Middle School Blast Mar 15, 2024
Note from Bill…
This past week has been a run-up to our highly anticipated two-week Spring Break! With this air of expectancy wafting throughout the campus, students have been hard at work finishing up final assignments, projects, and assessments to close out the third quarter. Our annual Middle School Talent Show appropriately capped-off the week; singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and other assorted acts performed to the delight of a very anxious and appreciative audience.
Sixth grade students spent this week polishing up and presenting, to a panel of faculty-judges, their “It’s Your City” project as part of their It’s Your World class’ focus on social justice issues in Cincinnati. Students worked in small groups of two to three to select a social justice issue that they were interested in further exploring and to then identify a local agency in Cincinnati that works to best support their chosen social justice issue. Following extensive research about their organization, students then created a poster that served to advertise the work of their chosen organization and wrote and delivered a persuasive speech about the important work of their chosen organization. Faculty judges assessed 25+ projects and chose the one group whose efforts best understood and promoted their Cincinnati-based organization’s social justice issue. The winning group of students then received a $200 check that will be sent to their organization as a charitable gift to support their ongoing work in making Cincinnati a stronger and better community. Without question, our sixth grade students understand the vital importance of equity for all of Cincinnati’s diverse citizenry!

Solar Eclipse Celebration for April 8
We are excited to announce the Middle School’s upcoming solar eclipse celebration on April 8! Prior to the eclipse, we will host a special assembly featuring the science behind the eclipse and the safety precautions we expect all students to observe. All students will receive eclipse viewing glasses, and together, we will witness this historic event outdoors. We certainly don’t want your child to miss out on this fun and historic event! To facilitate our arrangements, we kindly request that you inform the Middle School Office if your child will be absent or dismissed early on April 8. Your prompt response will enable us to best tailor our preparations for this day.
