Doherty Blast Sep 29, 2023
Dear Doherty Families,
It was great to see everyone enjoying the Homecoming festivities. Watching the older athletes provide clinics for our students is always the highlight of my night. Our students love these interactions and look up to the older students. Of course, the fireworks are the perfect way to end the night.
For the past two weeks, the Upper School has hosted 30 students and two teachers from Askartza Claret in Bilbao, Spain. This week, the students shared books they wrote while at Seven Hills with our students. Our students enjoyed hearing their stories and learning more about their hometowns.
Kindergarten, first, and second graders have been working hard in their literacy classes. They have been practicing their phonics skills, building their reading stamina, and applying their knowledge of letters, sounds, and spelling patterns to their writing. It is always wonderful to hear a student exclaim, “I love phonics.”
Thank you for all the donations to our Childhood Cancer Awareness Crayola Collection. We collected over two hundred items for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital!
Pictures will be back soon, and our picture retake day will be on Oct 12. Our 2-year-olds will have their photos done on this day.
Remember Fall Break is Oct. 5-9, with classes resuming on Oct 10!
Have a great weekend!
Tracy

Donate Blood on Oct. 26 in the Upper School Library — Save a Life!
According to the Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. The Upper School Red Cross Club and HOSA are partnering to host a blood drive on Oct. 26 in the Upper School library, 10:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Parents are encouraged to sign up (and bring a friend!). Students 16 and older are also able to donate (16 year olds must bring a parent consent form signed by a parent).
