Head of School Jan 26, 2024
Now deep into January, the winter athletic season is in high gear.
This past week featured a host of fiercely contested basketball games for our Middle School girls and boys, junior varsity and varsity girls and boys teams, as well as Middle School and varsity swim meets, a bowling tournament, and a weekend squash tournament in St. Louis, where our varsity teams hope to qualify for nationals.
In the Lower Schools, during this coming weekend, we will host a basketball clinic for students in kindergarten and first grade and no fewer than 13 youth basketball games, both home and away.
One of the highlights of the week was a spirited contest pitting our undefeated girls varsity basketball team against a very strong team from Wyoming. Regrettably, after a hard fought game, our girls suffered their first loss of the season and now stand at 12-1 as they gear up for their run to the playoffs. In spite of their disappointment, it was inspiring to see the courage, determination, and grace these student athletes displayed, even in adversity.
Many thanks to all of our coaches, both school employees and parent volunteers, who help provide these valuable opportunities for our student athletes.
Warmly,
Christopher P. Garten
Head of School
