What to Know Now

November Food Drive

The Seven Hills School will hold their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive this November. If you would like to contribute, we will have bins in Four Corners to drop donations. This year, we are collecting for La Soupe, and we are concentrating on collecting rice, pasta, dried beans, lentils, and tomato paste.

Charges to Student Accounts from the IT Department

The IT department has a few items they need to charge throughout the school year as students need to replace items like lanyards, iPad pencils, and iPads. The IT department will keep a record of these charges and communicate them to the Business Office at the end of each month. Please be aware that you could see these charges on your incidental invoice. If you have any questions, please email studentbilling@7hills.org.

Junior Family College Counseling Meeting — Monday, Nov. 10, 7 p.m., Zoom

This presentation marks the start of the college search process for our juniors. Over the coming weeks, the college counselors will begin meeting with their advisees more regularly. Early meetings will focus on academics, interests, and key moments from the first years of high school. Later meetings will focus on the college search and building an initial list.

All parents and guardians will be invited to meet with their student’s college counselor this winter. During the presentation, we will review current topics in college admission and outline what to expect over the next year of college research and applications. We look forward to working with you throughout this process!

The slides and a presentation recording will be available for anyone who is not able to attend. A Zoom link will be shared in the Class of 2027 Canvas group.

Head Lice Update

We want to inform families that cases of head lice have been identified across multiple grades and both school campuses. Head lice tend to be more common in the fall, and many schools across the Cincinnati area are experiencing cases at this time. While this can be frustrating, it’s a common issue among school-aged children and can happen to anyone. We encourage parents to take a few minutes to check their child’s hair and scalp and to treat promptly if any lice or nits are found. Please let the school nurses know if your child is affected so we can offer guidance and help limit further spread. Thank you for your care and partnership in keeping our school community healthy.

November Book Pick: “The Women” by Kristin Hannah

“The Women” is a historical fiction novel that some may describe as unexpected in that you think you know, but did you really know? The novel puts a different spin on the veteran experience following a young woman Frankie who enlisted into the Army Nurse Corps during the Vietnam War. This is a book that makes you feel a range of emotions while opening your eyes to perspectives you may not have considered. Who you are today, may not be who you ever were.  Caution: once you start it, you might not be able to put it down.  If you have read it, let us know! If you have a book recommendation, we would love that too. Email us at us.pa@7hills.org.

Thank You!

An enormous thank you to the Faculty Appreciation Subcommittee (Marnie Renda, Kristin Tennyson, Nirvana Patel, Muzette Britt, Christina Weir, and Regina Russo) and to all families who contributed to the Potluck. We shared your names with the faculty so they could see how much love went into the meal they enjoyed. Thank you for your generosity!
